Seminar: Authorship in science

TENK seminari: Authorship in Science

Date: 25.11.2015

Venue: House of Science and Letters, Kirkkokatu 6, Helsinki

Who has the right to be listed as author in a scientific article? Is it necessary to lay down a set of rules to define authorship?

In Finland, manipulating authorship is considered a violation of the responsible conduct of research. Still, the criteria of what qualifies as contribution varies in different fields. Also, how has measuring the number of scientific publications affected the scientific community? Do researchers embellish their CVs?

The keynote speaker is Dr Sabine Kleinert, who works as Senior Executive Editor of the prestigious medical journal The Lancet. In her presentation, Dr Kleinert will approach the questions surrounding authorship from the viewpoint of international science journals.

The seminar will be streamed live on TENK's website: All video material will be available for one month after the seminar. Programme and registration (in English/Finnish)
